It displays the submitted color beside the selected named color so you can judge the difference visually. The result is often an approximation: most possible RGB values do not have their own CSS keyword, so receiving a familiar name does not mean that the original value and the named color are identical.

An input that exactly equals a named color should produce that color rather than merely a similar candidate.

Channel values are more reliable than eyesight for confirming whether two swatches are identical.
Yes, if the result is a standard CSS named-color keyword. However, the browser will render the keyword's defined color, not the original submitted value. If the lookup is approximate and the difference matters, use the original HEX or RGB value instead of substituting the returned name.
An arbitrary RGB color usually has no exact CSS name. The tool must therefore select the closest entry from a limited keyword set, and that entry can remain visibly different. Use the side-by-side swatches to assess the approximation, then compare the displayed values if you need to determine whether the match is exact.
