Paint the removal area

Move the eraser brush across the exact pixels that should disappear. Brush diameter controls the width of each pass: a large brush clears broad interiors quickly, while a smaller one gives better control around hair, lettering, corners, and curved edges. Overlapping strokes enlarge the cleared region, so approach important boundaries gradually and inspect them at a useful zoom.

Preserve transparency

The result contains transparency where the brush removed pixels; it does not reveal the scene that was originally hidden behind an erased object. A checkerboard in an image editor ordinarily represents transparent pixels. Keep the result in an alpha-capable format such as PNG. JPEG cannot store an alpha channel and may show or flatten transparent regions as a solid color.

Good uses

  • Clearing remaining background fragments from around a product, logo, or photographed object after a rough cutout.
  • Removing a person or object near the edge of a photo before placing the retained subject over a different background.
  • Erasing a border, label, timestamp, or empty corner region when a transparent opening is acceptable in the finished image.

Limits and checks

  • An erased region is a transparent hole, not a plausible replacement background. Use a repair or inpainting tool when the surrounding scene must continue across the removed object.
  • Wide strokes can remove nearby details, while narrow strokes can leave colored fringes or isolated pixels. Inspect high-contrast edges closely before saving.
  • Transparency may appear as white, black, or another color in software that flattens images. That display does not necessarily mean the eraser left those pixels behind.

Common questions

Can the tool restore what was behind an erased object?

No. The original photograph contains only the visible surface of the object, not the hidden background behind it. This tool removes the painted pixels and leaves transparency. If you need the gap filled convincingly, use an image-repair or inpainting tool and inspect the generated detail for errors.

Can I save the erased area as transparent?

Yes, provided the downloaded image uses a format that supports alpha transparency. PNG is the usual choice for retaining transparent pixels. JPEG is not suitable because it has no alpha channel. If another application shows a solid background, verify that it imported the PNG transparency instead of flattening the image.
