What Credit Card Payoff Calculator does, with a checked example
Choose a payoff approach for one credit card: its minimum payment, a fixed monthly amount, or a desired payoff date. The calculator turns the balance and APR into an estimated payoff time and total interest. For a target date, it determines the payment needed to finish on schedule. The common trap is treating today's minimum due as a permanent payment, although minimums can change as the balance falls. Enter financial figures, not card numbers or login details. The entered figures stay in the browser and are not uploaded.
Worked example
A concrete input and expected output from the current implementation.
Input
Balance: $600; APR: 0%; payment method: fixed monthly payment; payment: $200
->
Expected output
Estimated payoff time: 3 months; total interest: $0.00
At 0% APR, the balance accrues no interest. Three monthly payments of $200 exactly repay the $600 balance.
