What Browser Fingerprint Tester does and how it behaves

The Browser Fingerprint Tester examines observable characteristics exposed by the current browser and helps assess how distinctive their combined pattern may be. It covers canvas rendering, WebGL capabilities, audio behavior, available fonts, and other browser APIs. Results belong to the exact browser profile, device, and settings used for the test. The common surprise is that private browsing or clearing cookies does not guarantee an ordinary fingerprint, because fingerprinting can use characteristics that are independent of stored site data.

Signal testing

When the test runs, it requests observable outputs from the current browsing context. These can include a rendered canvas result, WebGL properties, audio-processing output, detectable fonts, and the presence or values of selected browser APIs. The observations describe this browser, operating system, hardware, and configuration at the time of the test. Testing occurs in the browser, and nothing is uploaded.

Result interpretation

Fingerprinting depends on combining multiple signals, not necessarily on finding one uniquely identifying value. Repeating the test can show whether the observed combination remains stable after a browser restart or configuration change. Any displayed identifier or uniqueness assessment applies to the vectors the tool measured. It is not equivalent to a permanent identity, an account, or proof that websites are actively tracking the browser.

  • Check whether changing font access, graphics settings, or a privacy extension alters observable browser characteristics.

Limits and checks

  • True uniqueness is relative to a comparison population; an isolated fingerprint cannot establish global uniqueness.
  • Browser updates, graphics drivers, hardware changes, installed fonts, extensions, permissions, and privacy settings can change the result.
  • Blocked, standardized, or randomized signals may reduce stability, but their unusual behavior can itself become part of an observable pattern.

Common questions

Can this prove that my browser is unique?

No. A fingerprint is unique only relative to a defined collection of other fingerprints observed at a particular time. Without a representative comparison population, a rare-looking combination is evidence of possible distinctiveness, not proof. Even a reported uniqueness result should be interpreted within the specific signals and comparison basis used by the tester.

Will clearing cookies reset my browser fingerprint?

Usually no. Clearing cookies removes stored site identifiers, while canvas output, graphics capabilities, audio behavior, fonts, and API characteristics can remain similar. The fingerprint may still change if clearing data also resets permissions or site-specific settings, but cookie deletion alone does not necessarily alter the underlying signals examined by this tester.
