Bead Count Calculator works out how many beads it takes to fill a bracelet, necklace, or other strung piece to a chosen finished length. Enter the target length and the bead's diameter, and it divides one by the other to return a whole-number bead count. What trips people up: the math assumes beads sit edge to edge with zero gap, so any project with spacer beads, knots between beads, or a clasp eating into the length will need a slightly different count than the raw number the tool gives back.

7 inches equals 177.8mm; 177.8mm divided by a 6mm bead diameter is 29.63, which rounds up to 30 whole beads, covering about 180mm (7.09 in) since beads can't be split.
The tool converts the target length and the bead diameter to a common unit (typically millimeters, since bead sizes are conventionally given in mm even when project length is entered in inches or cm), then divides length by diameter to get a raw, often fractional, bead count for a single strand.
Since a strand can't include part of a bead, the raw division result is rounded to the nearest whole number. That rounding means the beaded portion of the finished piece will land a fraction of a millimeter above or below the length you typed in, not exactly on it.
No. The calculator assumes the entire length you enter is covered by beads. If your desired total length includes the clasp, subtract the clasp and finding length from your target before entering it, otherwise the beaded section will run long.
Not in one pass. Each calculation uses a single bead diameter, so for a mixed-size design, run it once per bead size against the portion of the length that size will fill, then add the resulting counts together.
